QUESTION?????!!! PLEASE HELP
HI
Im interested in joining this sorority that is said to be "Latina Based Multicultural" I just really would like someone to give me a good definition of the phrase. Nobody has given me a good def. of it yet to make me feel,as a African American, female that it would be okay for me to join. I am not sure if it means that its multicultural to the Latina culture or multicultural to all cultures. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. |

That phrase usually pops up with organizations that were founded as Latino/a organizations, but have recently seen a push for or surge in "multicultural" membership. In some organizations, that means only the membership makeup has shifted. In others, the focus may have changed. Do a search for NALFO, multicultural, or the GLO you're interested in and you should be able to get more information. |
You can also search for Mlatinacultural.

You all were supposed to tell her whether it's ok to join. Maybe her additional research or someone on her campus will tell her. Good luck.

None of us know who you are or anything about the chapter or organization which you have not named. How on Earth do you expect anyone to give you sound advice with so little information?

ETA: Internet search engines bring up an array of Latina-based organizations with a multicultural emphasis based on founding purpose and/or member demographics. Reading about the orgs explains what it all means. |

When talking to a Latino/a: "Yes, we're one of the largest Latino organizations in the US!" When talking to everyone else: "Yes, we're a large multicultural organization *cough*foundedbylatinos*cough*!" |

This needs to be posted on the "New Account Registration" screen. |
