Recruitment at UCF for transfer students

Hi all!
Okay, so this past year (Fall 09 - Spring 10) I attended FSU but now I have transfered to a community college and I am hoping to go to UCF after I get my AA.
How hard/competitive will it be for me to go through sorority recruitment at UCF? I'll be 21. I make good grades in school and I don't do really anything that would cause me to have a bad rep in the area.
Would it be a waste of my time and money to go through recruitment? I've always wanted to be in a sorority (if I was still at FSU I would be participating in recruitment this fall) and I have an open mind and get along with many people!
Thanks in advance for any help :)

Did you rush at FSU Fall 09? Will you be rushing this Fall or next at UCF? There are some GCers who can point you in the right direction regarding recruitment at UCF, but no one will be able to say if it would be a waste of time and $ for you. If you want the experience come what may, then I say go for it.
Please keep us posted.

What will your class standing be? Sophomore or Junior?

At any rate, there is TONS on here about UCF and recruitment, as it is dscussed a lot here on GC.

Hey, we can't really tell you whether you have a good shot of getting in or not, because we don't know you and we're not in the UCF sororities (aka we're not making the decisions), but here's a few things to keep in mind:

Positives: Grades (keep your grades good)
Recomendations (get them for every chapter, possibly 2 for every chapter, and maybe even supplemental letters of recomendations in addition to the literal sorority rec form)
Presentation: Make sure you are presenting the best version of yourself. You want to really be "on". Make sure your appearance is POLISHED and up to par.

Negatives (things that will hurt you): Your class standing (you can't really do anything about this though)
Transfer (You don't know anyone. Think of ways you can try to get to know UCF sorority women before recruitment. This will help you a lot)

There are threads about UCF on this board, and if you read them, you'll be able to get more of a feel for recruitment there, beyond this general advice. Good luck!

I didn't participate in rush of Fall 09 at FSU because I wanted to know that I could balance my classes and make good grades in college before taking on such a big commitment, but I made excellent grades and had many friends who were in sororities who were easily able to balance their lives so now I feel like I would absolutely love joining a sorority!

when do you anticipate completing your AA? in other words, do you think that you will be participating in formal fall rush or informal spring(if they do it)?

I will be completing my AA in 2012 and applying for the architecture program at UCF.
I plan on participating in formal fall rush, I'd like to be able to visit and get a feel for each chapter, but I'm not against spring rush. I had some friends at FSU who said that spring tends to be much more relaxed and more personable.
I am mostly just worried about my age being an issue... I'll be 21 years old. And also UCF only has I think 10 chapters unlike other schools who have more so it just concerns me that there won't be much of an option for me.

I swore I just read another thread yesterday about UCF recruitment, but I will say it again. I have a few friends that are greek at UCF and you may have harsh cuts as a Junior, but it is not impossible to get into a sorority at UCF. If anything, I would gather recs and make sure you maintain a high GPA.

if you want a chance to see all the chapters, then fall would be the time for you.

I rushed this past fall as a senior at ucf and I was a transfer. You will be cut based on class standing, but if you have a while till you are done with school you should be ok, just make it very clear that you will be around for a long time. But there were two girls in my pc that just graduated this spring. Feel free to pm me, and ill answer any questions you have :)
