Fraternity Marketing Paper

I am writing a research paper for an entrepreneurial marketing class. I am trying to find basic research for a market analysis. I just need generic numbers as far as how many there are. I have been to NIC website, but I need a little more. Also, if there is any information on Greek history other than wikipedia. My instructor does not see this as a credible site. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Tired topic for a research paper, buuut...

How many what?

And if Wikipedia isn't a credible source, I doubt GC will be viewed as acceptable.

Well for Greek History your best bet would be looking for a copy of Baird's.

(Can't believe I'm diving this deep into this thread, but...)

If this is for a market analysis, the professor is more than likely going to want current (w/in the last year) information. IIRC, the last printing of Baird's was in 1993.

If the OP has done any research, he should know that there are more councils than the NIC and he'd know where to go to get more information.

Really, he needs to change his topic.

But he also asked about Greek history. Baird's would be a very good source for that.

As for The Wiki, of course it's not a credible source for a paper. That said, if an article on it is well-researched and documented, it will point you to some credible sources.

I skimmed over that part. My mistake.

Every analysis that I've done has been more focused on events of the past year or so, and any additional history was to gain an understanding of the industry/company.

However, if the OP is Greek (as his name implies), he should be aware of the basics.

Still think he should pick another topic, though.

Thanks for the help so far. I wish I could use a different topic. This is what was assigned to me.

You never answered my initial question: How many what?

But if the analysis is to assist with marketing, history is a big component of Greek marketing.

But what do I know? When I see the word "entrepreneurial," I tend to zone out fast. It's high on my list of overused buzz words.

And I too have wondered how many what.

I was trying to come up with a number of actual fraternities in the US, but that is just way too broad I have found.

I almost always look at 1-3 years worth of data (financial, previous marketing initiatives, etc) when doing an analysis. The only time I seek out more history is to gain an understanding of a company or industry I'm not familiar with. Getting TOO much information from the past is sometimes useless, as it'll stunt your creativity (you'll only be able to come up with ideas similar to the previous initiatives).

Yes, there are quite a few. What exactly are you doing with this project?

That seems like a tough subject for an assignment! Good luck!
