VA Schools
The state of Virginia is like three different countries (Northern, Southwestern, Coastal) and at my school theres kind of a rivalry between them. Anyone who goes to a VA school know what Im talking about?
|
I've never really noticed a separation of schools based on where they were located. I know that the actual sections are different, but what do you mean about the schools? Can you elaborate a little on what exactly you mean?
I'm very curious!;) |
Not so much between the schools themselves, but over half of the students in each school are natives to the state. (the vast majority of) Northern VA kids are wealthy and affluent and think that south of Richmond is comprised of hillbillies and that everybody knows where Charlottesville and Alexandria are. (the vast majority of) Southwest VA kids come from rural areas and think that the Northern VA kids tend to be spoiled bleeding hearts that talk out of their @$$. (the vast majority of [these are my experiences at 6 of these schools, btw]) Coastal VA kids cant name a Virginia city north or west of Richmond, nor do they care to.

I went to high school in Virginia Beach. Most of my classmates went to ODU, UVA, Tech, or Longwood. JMU was very popular too. After those, N.C. schools are high up on the list.
But your right about the coastal kids. In high school I could name VB, Norfolk, the other Tidewater cities, and Richmond. If I thought about it I could come up w/ Alexandria. :) But naming cities and geography has NEVER been something I've been good at. |
SoCal, what high school did you go to (if you dont mind my asking)? I went to Granby

I went to Salem. :) I graduated in '95
