Do sororities care if you have braces?
I'm going to start college in the fall and was thinking of joining a sorority. Heard sororities were into appearances and was wondering if I had to wait until next year when the braces come off or if I could start right away. All help accepted, thanks in advance.

OMG. No, do not wait till next fall if you're rushing at a competitive school.

Your appearance does matter, but what is important is that you look polished and dress appropriately. Braces should not negatively affect your recruitment unless they make you feel insecure. Insecurity will show.
While I was a collegian, we had two sisters who had braces when they joined. If anything, it will make you memorable. |
Just be you and don't let the braces overshadow your personality. They are a temporary thing that will disappear, your personality isn't temporary.
I do get your concern though, I had braces while in high school and OMG I thought that any reason I didn't "make" something was because of my braces, as an adult I've realized it had nothing to do with my braces. If you want to go through recruitment, you should do it for the right reasons and just be yourself. I know there are many great threads on the board about recruitment. |
no, but fraternities do.
