Leaving Your Facebook Up

So has anyone else learned not to leave your Facebook up?

KSUViolet06 05-11-2010 07:48 PM

Yeah. I don't even log onto FB in a public location (eg. library, etc.) because I might forget to log out. My friends have had people change their settings/write crazy statuses/etc.

Leaving GC up may be worse. LOL.

Come to think of it, I can't believe that my kids have never gotten onto GC in my name. I can imagine what Baby Berry and Tall Son would do with that.(aopinthesky, you can attest to that)

No, I'm talking about what people in your house or dorm do to your FB! Our kids live to change each others' statuses, it seems. Last one: our oldest, who's a teacher, left hers up and suddenly there was a post in which she described passing gas in her sleep so loudly that it woke her up. Half her school saw it before she did.

Tall Son's best buddy fell asleep last night while with friends and his status was, um, much changed when he woke up this morning.

...and suddenly comes the time when you realize that living with just a dog with no opposable thumbs isn't the worst thing in the world!

Now, if the crazies would quit trying to friend me!

Sidenote: we always say my dog would take over the world if she had thumbs.

I'm pretty good about logging out of my FB, but I've seen some funny stuff on other people's statuses.

Yeah, your roommate might post something inappropriate under your name.

Hahaha that's what I was thinking!!

christiangirl 05-11-2010 11:45 PM

I leave mine logged in but I my laptop is always locked when I'm away from it for more than a few seconds so I don't worry about it.

LOL To be honest, I worry about GC more. ;) I've had people impersonate me on other boards before (and say SUPER inappropriate things during their time of posery).

[lane swerve]Anybody want to suggest the best laptop for me? I need at least 4GB, but that's about all I know. I've had both hp & Toshiba and was happy with both, but tech reps can change day to day!

We have one kid who leaves his up all the time at work. It's great fun lol. There's another one that leaves his e-mail open and I keep threatening to send inappropriate e-mail to his professors (though I'd never actually do it!)

Our son had fun updating the status on mom's FB page. Thanks to him, she announced to everyone that she was feeling a sudden and stong urge to lavish large amounts of money and other gifts on her children.

I have fun reading people's statuses when they've obviously been hijacked by their friends or kids. You know when Elise's status says "My sister is the most wonderful person in the world" that Elise did NOT post that! And when Sue's status was "My son is the best kid in the world so I'm giving $100" when she has 3 other kids too... uhh, nope!

honeychile 05-12-2010 01:30 PM

My little has three daughters, whose names she has listed on her FB page. The one hijacks the page fairly often, stating that she's the favorite, and her sisters were mistakes!

Yeah, that's the kind of stuff I see a lot. That's just good, harmless fun :)

On a side note, if I go by somebody's desk at work and they didn't lock their screen, I pull up a blank Word doc and leave them something like this on their desktop..

"I could have emailed (CEO NAME) from your account since you didn't lock your screen, but I didn't! Be more careful!"
