mascot question

Hi. Sorry to invade your board, but I have a question. Your national mascot are bunnies and strawberries. Right? When I was in school the ZTAs all had zebras. I had'nt heard about the bunny thing till I saw it on the GC board. Do some chapters have zebras while others bunnies? Could this be because that chapter is old (zebras) and the newer mascot is the bunny? Just curious. Thank you. Lisa

Lisa,

You are more than welcome to ask questions, anytime! To the best of my knowledge Zeta has no official mascot...each chapter picks their own. The Strawberry is one of our VIS (very important symbols) tho. Many chapters use the bunny as a mascot, but like you said some use Zebras and mine is the Turtle. Sometimes I think it's fun that we have different mascots bc it adds to our diversity but it would be nice to be able to have the same one sometimes. A seller on Ebay and a greek website I think ONLY sells Zeta Bunny Beanie Babies and I would LOVE to have a turtle that says Zeta on it. I hope that answers your question Lisa!

Thanks, Michelle. I really thought the official national mascot is the bunny. That's so cool that each chapter has its own mascot to define them!!! We (AGD) have our choice of, well, squirrels or squirrels. Lucky us, a cute rodent!!! Oh well. Thanks again, Lisa

Every chapter is different. UF uses the Zebra. I'm not sure what FSU uses. I think either the bunny or the Zebra....Barbara would know. :) UCF uses a white tiger. It's actually kinda confusing for people. Everybody wonders why there is only the bunny beanie baby but the UCF Zetas are getting their little sisters stuffed tigers!

I've always been told that strawberries are an official thing but bunnies are not. At Clemson University and Wofford College, I know that bunnies are used as the unofficial mascot. As for Prebyterian College, though, I've heard they use penguins. And at the University of South Carolina, their hall is decorated with Snoopy's.

Snoopys? That's a new one. :) My chapter uses bunnies as well as angels. Strawberries and crowns are definitely national, although they aren't mascots because they aren't animals or characters.

Our mascot at the College of Charleston is the ladybug. I have so much ladybug stuff it's sickening! I have been trying to tell people to look out for strawberry stuff to give me. It's ironic though b/c my best friend in high school collected ladybug stuff, and now I have more than her. She's so jealous!

FSU does use a bunny as their mascot.

My home chapter, Gamma Mu, used a ladybug when I was in college. Shortly after I left, they started using a bunny. When the chapter was reorganized in the mid-90's, they chose the zebra.
