The Internet Killed It!

What has (and hasn't) the Internet killed?

From sex to Nigeria to Chuck Norris, the Internet has affected them all

For some people, the Internet is the killer app -- literally. From newspapers and the Yellow pages to personal privacy and personal contact, the Net has been accused of murdering, eviscerating, ruining, and obliterating more things than the Amazing Hulk. Some claims are more true than others, but the Net certainly has claimed its share of scalps.
Here are 10 things the Net is making virtually extinct, plus five that have flourished.

I don't know what some of this stuff is. But, I agree with the stuff that I recognize. :) Gosh darn you Greekchat! Ruining lives one login at a time!!!

Like all similar lists, this one is greatly exaggerated. There's really nothing new under the sun, just different ways of doing it.

The Net has all but ruined Mr. Moviefone. I remember the days when there was no Yahoo! or Fandango. If you wanted to know what was playing, you dialed 777-FILM like everyone else.

Or in the case of unfortunate New Yorkers, 555-FILK.

Music videos.

World premiere videos on MTV used to be a big deal (at least when I was in MS/HS).

Now you can YouTube pretty much anything, and MTV is 99.9% reality shows.

I think that MTV's not showing videos killed them (that is, killed them as a cultural force) way before the internet.

^^^I think it was around the same time.

MTV has sucked since I was in the latter part of HS but at the begining the videos were still a pretty big part of the station.

I remember my mom having the "take-out restaurant coupon drawer" in the kitchen when I was a kid. Now the deals are listed online, you can order online, you can EVEN tip the delivery driver online.

^^ Order from Domino's, and you can see when your pizza is being made, when it leaves the store, and when it should arrive at your house... all through the magic of the internet.

Or do what we did in even more prehistoric times: looked it up in the newspaper.

We stuck them all to the fridge when I was little.

Another thing the internet killed: The Phone Book.

Need a number, Google it.

Why don't you just tell me the name of the movie you selected?
