Sandra Bullock Adopts & Confirms Divorce

In this weeks People Magazine with Sandra looking amazingly happy on the cover with her new baby...

In public, Sandra Bullock has been through the best and worst of times this year – from winning her first Oscar to enduring the breakup of her marriage. In private, she was quietly keeping a joyful secret – his name is Louis, and he is her newborn son.

Bullock reveals exclusively in the new issue of PEOPLE that she is the proud mother of Louis Bardo Bullock, a 3½-month-old boy, born in New Orleans. Bullock, 45, and husband Jesse James, 41, began the adoption process four years ago and brought Louis home in January but decided to keep the news to themselves until after the Oscars. Their close friends and family – including James's children Sunny, 6, Jesse Jr., 12, and Chandler, 15 – were essential in keeping the adoption a secret.

Then, just 10 days after the March 7 Oscars, Bullock and James separated following reports James had cheated. Bullock says she is now adopting as a single parent.

Sandra Bullock Has Filed for Divorce

It's official: Sandra Bullock wants out of her five-year marriage to Jesse James.

"Yes, I have filed for divorce," the actress, 45, tells PEOPLE in the latest issue, in which she also reveals she has adopted a son, 3½-month-old Louis.

A rep for Bullock confirms the star filed legal papers seeking to end her marriage, but declines to specify in what jurisdiction they are filed. Says Bullock of her decision to divorce: "I'm sad and I am scared."

It was a cheating scandal that rocked the couple's marriage, with several women claiming to have had illicit affairs with James, 41.

The motorcycle mogul, who has publicly apologized to Bullock and his three kids, recently returned home after a 30-day stay in a treatment facility where he sought help for "personal issues."

LOL. I saw her Black baby this morning and thought to myself "damn, that's typical."

I feel some kind of way about what celebrities are allowed to get away with when it comes to family structure, but whatever.

ETA: I recognize that they began the adoption process 4 years ago before James' loose dick caught the headlines.

don't take this the wrong way, but why do we care anymore?

if this was last year would this still be news?

Does the color of her baby really matter?

Is the baby Russian?

Yes.

Adopting a newborn Black baby from New Orleans was no accident.

Why would it suddenly not matter?

I question why she kept it under wraps all this time and is only releasing the news now, concurrent with confirming her intention to divorce. I mean - why taint the happy event with a sad one? She had to know that she was going to be asked about the divorce now, clear that up first and then share the baby news a few months down the road.

Was it Haitian?

I'm surprised she could keep him secret this long...that's a record in Hollywood! I didn't even have to look at the picture to know he was black. Adopted a baby in New Orleans...seriously!

I'm glad she got the divorce, but how she couldn't see right through a walking Sistine Chapel, I haven't a clue.

Exactly. I'm more than a little cynical about this.

From the handful of articles I've read, it seems that no one can get the story straight about how long they were in the adoption process. 6 months? 4 years? 3 months?

I also find it a little strange that she adopted a black baby in light of the fact that her soon-to-be ex-husband was implicated in Neo-Nazi stuff.

It all seems so very perfecctly orchestrated that it's clearly the work of a PR person. The baby and the divorce news kind of cancel each other out, and it puts an end to all of this stuff, since one of the biggest headlines of this was related to the speculation that she wanted a baby.

It's like, "okay! America's sweetheart was jilted by a nasty Neo-Nazi, so she divorces him and adopts a black baby, and they all live happily ever after!" Much too pat for real life.

^^^THIS

Hmm...I didn't even think about that. I don't get his Neo Nazi crap. If he is then she had to have known. If it's in his past (like I hope it is) maybe she wasn't exposed to it, but I just can't help but feel like how could she not know?

Anyways, I think the baby is GORGEOUS and I am happy for both him and his mommy. What an awesome and beautiful and motivation thing to come out of such a horrible situation. I still commented to a friend that I hope she's able to teach him proper police etiquette.
