Man sues for 'no coloured waiter' request
http://www.news.com.au/world/man-sue...-1225857255539
Hmm, if I was the waiter, Hulk would come out. |
Dude...this was a better story on that page...heh
|
I used to work in a men's clothing store. It was my turn to wait on the new clients. The father looked at me and very rudely said he wanted a man to help them out. I looked at him and said it would be about a half hour, because the male sales consultant was on break. He waited for him and then had the male sales consultant help him. I got my revenge though, because I was the manager and the sales consultant was new to the business (less than a week). Every 5 minutes he had to ask me a question because he had no clue what he was doing. I had forgotten about that until I read that story.

I guess they think if they have money they have the right to be bigots.
Like Raggedy Ann, I had a patient once in my General Surgery clinic who didn't want me to examine him for an inguinal hernia because I was female. There were actually no males in clinic that day so I let him peak out the door and pick which of the female residents he'd rather have examine him. Once he finally got the idea that he didn't have a choice in the matter, I let him know that he had to have a rectal exam, too! :D Stupid him...he didn't know how lucky he was. Women have much smaller fingers! |
I think a patient's preference of his physician's gender is different from a restaurant patron not wanting to be served by coloreds.
|
^^^ YES. But there is actually something that made me LOL in the article. The British family said they didn't want and colored people or "people with foreign accents". WTF? You are British in Florida. You motherfuckers have foreign accents.

The same also goes for women who don't want a male gynecologist and will reschedule if their regular woman gynecologist is unavailable. We wouldn't call that woman sexist for doing so therefore I find nothing sexist about a man not wanting a female doctor to look at his hernia (or check his prostate, etc.). A lot of people are thinking this stuff but won't say it. As for this guy in the article, it's so unimportant and unmoving...so blahzey blah. |

^^ In total agreement with the above. |
The paper needs to be less shy about publishing this family's name.

The Hotel is also being named in the suit
His lawyers have used the Civil Rights Act of 1866, which was passed a year after blacks were freed from slavery following the end of the American Civil War,to bring the lawsuit. The Act makes it illegal to discriminate in jobs and housing on the basis of race or colour. The Ritz-Carlton hotel and its manager are named in the legal action in which Tranchant is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
