Informal 2010 Recruitment
.
|
Why do you think you were not offered a bid?
-What is your GPA like? Is there a chance for it to improve the next time you go through recruitment if it isnt up to par? Grades matter to all chapters whether they are doing informal or formal recruitment. -Did you take pride in your appearance and dress appropriately for the occasion/informal recruitment functions? -What were your conversations like at these functions? Did you bring up awkward topics? Does your body language match what you are saying? Are you quiet? If you are shy/quiet/hard to get to know how do you plan to break out of your shell the next time? Are you willing to do so? -What class are you? Are you an upper classman? If so, this isnt something that is going to change the next time around. If the chapters on your campus are favoring freshman and sophomores and you are a junior or senior what would make you stand out as an asset to a chapter to want to pledge you as an upperclassman? -Are you involved in other activities on campus? Why not? Would you be willing to join other groups outside of greek life? Do you/have you held leadership positions in the past? Think honestly about what the reasons could have been as to why you were not extended a bid and try to make changes. If you arent willing to make a change, then what makes you think you would be successful the next time? |

Also, ask yourself "What is different this time?" Generally speaking, something has to be different the 2nd time around in order for chapters to take a second look. Example: Were your grades low? Were you really shy? |
OK, just to recapitulate:
You went through informal rush in September 2009 and only visited one house, who did not offer you a bid. Then you went through formal rush in January 2010 and got cut by all the chapters, including the "nerdy" one. I think you'd better hang it up, darlin. This is a small Greek system and everyone knows who you are at this point. If you haven't gotten a bid by now, it's not gonna happen, unless one of the groups loses 3/4 of their members over the summer or something. |
