Interest

I have been interested in Alpha since i was in the 11th grade. I did programs with the grad chapter in my neighborhood and met alphas from all across the country. I started researching the org back then and knew that I fit IT very well. I even came to college on an alpha scholarship. The first thing my mentor told me to do was come to college and meet the brothers. And i did of course, they a bunch of cool guys. Right now im just on my journey to get my gpa up. My two boys were hard que interests and this year (sophmore year) started pre-pledging..but stopped when they felt some type of way. Now they are trying to be alpha interests. It upsets me because they feel as though they are just as much an interest as i am. And i missed this semesters intake because i didnt have the gpa and im pretty much guaranteed for the next one but i know they arent. They just wanna stroll and get letters, and they get mad when i don't feed into their non-sense.

They think just cause they speak to them that they are in.
Is it right for me to feel some type of way?

This is not a blog entry or a text message. You are posting on a Greek message board where first impressions can determine whether people take your post seriously.

As for your actual question, let's begin with why you think you are guaranteed for the next intake. How do you know when the next intake will be and that you will be there? I'm quite familiar with the "ranking of aspirants" and this often comes from the aspirants themselves. However, as far as you know, you all can all be in the same boat. Instead of caring about what your friends are thinking and doing, worry about your gpa and being worthy of this lifelong commitment to a BGLO.

You are very right about the gpa problem and this semester has fixed that problem. And i say im guaranteed not off of "high hopes" but because this is what I have been told. And i know when the next intake will be because i simply asked. And i doubt i am in the same boat, i've been in contact with one of them since i was in high school.
But the gpa part is the same thing my mentor and big brother have been tellin me. And i have that part squared away.

This is the "eternal aspirant" recipe. Add water and stir.

I dont get it but ok

What does your screen name mean?

Anyway, I'm an Alpha. First of all, that means yayyyyyyy me. Secondly, it means I can rephrase everything everybody else just said and get credit for having said it:

Alpha is not yours to give to anyone else. Allow my brothers to worry about saying what needs to be said to the other young men who are pursuing membership. You will not be made privy to those conversations. In time, they may learn their lesson the easy way. Some may learn it the hard way. However they learn it, it's not your lesson to teach them.

Practice humility and self-examination. Ask yourself whether you are truly casting off your prejudices of other people before you begin this process.

Read up on it. You need to come to us a blank slate, with no baggage. It will make your life easier.

Now, about the matter of the dry cleaning I need picked up....

Just wondering, did you lose your scholarship due to your poor grades?
