BRINGING NEW CHAPTERS TO PROVINCE XII

Hey all.

Since I've graduated from the U of Oregon in 2008, I've returned home to San Francisco and have been thinking about trying to start two new D.U. Chapters here in the City for some time. Specifically, I'd like to try and establish Chapters at the University of San Francisco (U.S.F.) and/or San Francisco State University (S.F.S.U.)

After speaking with a few individuals and double checking the IHQ site, it is very clear that Alumni support is a very critical component before any Colonization efforts can begin.

That being said, to all the users of this forum, if you know of any Alumni Brothers who live within the San Francisco Bay Area, please forward them this message and/or please send me their contact information so I can try and start the push to bring about the creation of two new Chapters.

I'm have yet to meet any DU's in San Francisco. I know we have heavy support from alums in the San Jose area b/c we've been here since 1948 w/the recolonizing in 1984. The Greek system here is very organized and has specific councils such as IFC, Panhellenic, NPHC, and USFC for multicultural & local chapters.

We have 10 IFC Chapters & 1 colony, 6 PHC, 5 NPHC, & 14 USFC chapters. SFSU only has 3 IFC chapters and it's only an all-greek council. From my experience, I feel that having it split up in different councils will allow the chapters to operate better.

I went to the 175th Anniversary in Albany, NY last summer and asked the same thing too. I met Alex from University of Arizona and there was a developing interest group out there. I'm not sure but International was interested in colonizing at U of A.

Thanks for the head's up. I'll be sure to keep the SJSU folks in the loop.
