Mad Hatter Tea Party

Okay, so I've been planning this party for a few weeks now, but have had some other things come up that have curved my creativity, so I am coming to the source of all sources for help.

I'm having a Mad Hatter Tea Party and have all the decorations picked out, and my sister in law is handling all of the sweet food. My problem is I can't figure out some easy (no nuts or peanut butter allowed) non-sweet related T-Party food. Any suggestions?

Finger sandwiches. White bread with the crusts cut off with various fillings. Egg salad, chicken salad, tuna salad, watercress, cucumber....the possibilities are endless. Make sure the bread is super soft, though.

I was afraid for a minute that this was something political. LOL.

Sounds fun...for finger foods cheese fondue or spinach-artichoke bread bowl, the finger sandwiches are good too. You can make them into fun shapes!

Ummm off topic but can someone tell my why my post says it's 3:00 pm? (I have only posted a couple times, new to GC and never noticed the time is way off.)

Check your settings under User CP (on the right side of the tool bar, the blue strip).

On topic, I think there is a thread around here with holiday goodie recipes. Maybe you can modify one of them to suit your purposes? Sounds like a really great party, btw.

cheese straws.

Ham Rollups. One package of rectangular sandwich ham, 1, 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened, a dollop of mayonnaise to make the cream cheese spreadable, some garlic powder and 1 bunch finely chopped scallions(or finely chopped nuts instead of scallions if someone doesn't have a nut allergy). Combine cheese, mayo, garlic powder and scallions, mixing well. Spread on ham slices ,then roll ham slices jelly-roll fashion, short side. Wrap well and freeze. Several hours before serving, remove from freezer-when just thawed, slice into rounds and continue to defrost. Just before serving, place on crackers of your choice. These keep well in the freezer for several months.

I think you should make fairy-tale mushrooms, and stick an 'Eat Me' sign on a handful of them. I second (third? fourth?) the finger sandwiches. Sounds like fun!

Deviled eggs? Mmm...

Wow that's a really cute idea! I'm going to steal that idea (and use it where, I'm not sure....)!

Oh, they are just TOO CUTE! I've seen these made with sweets, but not with the eggs.

A must. I don't think you're technically allowed to have a tea party without them.

Excellent! With the frozen puff pastries and the mini phyllo cups, you can let your imagination go wild! I usually make a puff pastry circle, then a small one on the inside, hollow it out a bit, and fill with homemade chicken salad. IMHO, there is no such thing as decent store-bought chicken salad!

Also, mini-meatballs on skewers, with or without dipping sauces (the easiest sweet/sour is grape jelly & chili sauce), stuffed mushroom caps, and of course, the finger sandwiches. Try to find a bakery which will make tinted bread, and order Pullman loaves. Egg salad looks great on blue bread, ham salad looks good on white bread, and cream cheese or cucumbers look good on pink bread, for example. Lightly butter the bread before spreading the filling, then be sure to put a well wrung out tea towel on top to keep them fresh.

And if you're lookiing for an occasion, use the Kentucky Derby! Everyone wears hats, and all you have to add are the mint juleps!

Thank you everyone! I knew you would all come through for me. :)
