APO's unofficial mascot?

I asked my advisor, who is an alumni, do APO have a mascot. He said, that the praying mantis is our unofficial one. Is that true? If so, what is the background?

Hmm, I never heard of that one and I've been in APO for quite a while.

Nope! Can't say that is one of our mascots. Maybe for your chapter, but not for the Fraternity. Our official animal mascot, I can tell you, is the golden eagle.

I used to know a lot of the members of the chapter here at UF and I know that every semester, each pledge class had a mascot. They would actually have some kind of stuffed animal and would take turns "guarding" it and all the initiated brothers would come up with schemes to kidnap it. They always had a lot of fun and the brothers would always get so insanely creative with how they would distract the pledges from the mascot so they could steal it.
