Founders Day 2010

Just enjoyed Founders Day with DG sisters at a local tea room. Didn't care for the tea, but the food was yummy!
It has been a couple of years since I attended Founders Day. Enjoyed it all very much!
What did you do for your Founders Day?:)

Our chapter had a luncheon with the local alum :) It was a lot of fun.

Random, possibly stupid, question: Does everyone do a roll call? I think that's my favorite part, hearing everyone's accomplishments and what chapter and what year and such :)

It's one of the things that is recommended, but sometimes when it's a small group it's not done. We had, I think, 4 chapters represented...maybe 5. And everybody pretty much knew everybody else already.

It's really neat when it's a big group.

Always, however, the candlelighting ceremony is done.

Interesting :) We only had our chapter there and the alumnae group. Most of the alum are from the same chapter but we had a few from other chapters in Ohio.

I went to the Washington DC brunch on Saturday with the American University collegians. The DC group has some pretty involved alumnae ranging from right out of college up to 40-50 year members, and I overheard a few seniors say that hearing from some of the alumnae got them excited to join a group after graduation.

DC has been doing it in a private room in a restaurant downtown for the past few years, the food is always really good there.

Yes, having alumnae involved with a chapter really encourages graduates to join alumnae groups. I think too many DGs have the idea that it's all over when you graduate or leave school. :(

Biggest Founders Day I ever went to was in Atlanta, which is quite a "melting pot" for chapters. When they called the roll of chapters, it was amazing to see how many were represented. And how many of the older ladies climbed on their chairs for the Omega Toast!! Of course...we don't do that anymore.

It was my chapters 40th, so we had a great founders day with some of the founding members of our chapter.
It was exciting for me because it was my 1st founders day :)
