I've never heard of anyone writing a rec for a girl when a chapter of their org wasn't on campus.
I'm not sure that a chapter would know what to do with a letter or rec from a non-member (whereas they know what to do with an official rec). As an active, I'm sure I wouldn't have. |
I think that sounds almost taboo to write a recommendation for someone to a sorority that you are not a member of. As a recruitment/membership advisor to my own chapter, I'm not sure I would know what to do with one of those, and quite frankly would probably chuck it and not count it.
I would try to focus on helping her find recommendations from members of the sororities represented on that campus. |

Over the years we've occasionally gotten a random recommendation letter from an alumna of another org or a well meaning non-Greek guidance counselor or teacher. Sorry to say they end up in the trash.

I always trashed them as well. If they are that concerned, they'll call a friend to do one for us. I've done that for women going somewhere we don't have a chapter.
