Ghosts and Hauntings---

Anyone have any frightful experiences with the paranormal they would like to share to get us all into the halloween spirit????

I'm being haunted by a ghost named Mac. lol. Well, actually, he haunts all of my sorority.

we found him at McDonalds, hence the name Mac.

Ghosts & the Paranormal

Two TV stations I worked for are allegedly haunted. One in Milwaukee by an engineer who committed suicide in the building, and one in Denver by a woman who didn't like the soap operas. Just kidding on that second reason -- they didn't seem to know why.

I never met either of the spirits.

Also, I saw a TV show while surfing the other night about a dorm room in Wilson Hall at Ohio University in Athens (right next door to the dorm I lived in as a freshman -- and Athens is supposed to be one of the most haunted areas in the country). I'm not really sure what the story is, but it had something to do with a girl who was haunted by the spirit of a woman from the former State Mental Hospital which is adjacent to the University. The student was either murdered or committed suicide -- not sure which.

The hospital grounds and buildings are now part of the university -- housing an art gallery and other stuff. The "Alylum Grounds" is where generations of OU students (myself included) used to go to park and well...you know.

I once was in friend of the family's house and their house was haunted. The rocking chair would move by itself sometimes along with one of those antique spinning wheels.

Well..story has it that our fraternity house is haunted....
I'm not really sure because I haven't lived in the house long enough to see sings, but people that live on the second floor tell me that you can hear things up in the third floor, like things moving, footsteps and other things, when no one is up there. That's why they took all of the bedrooms out of the third floor many years ago, because the guys living up there were scared crapless. I'm like, it's probably just something someone is doing to scare the rest of us, but one of the brothers has a videotape of himself and another brother up on the third floor. The tape shows them with all the lighs on, checking every room and every closet, crevice, etc. to make sure no one is up there. Then, they turned off all the lights and sat there... You can hear things in the background, like foot steps, something that sounds like voices, but we can't make it out, and a few other things. I've also heard stories of the light in our delta room (chapter room) on the third floor, blinking on and off like crazy during th emiddle of the night ( you can see the chapter room from a window on the third floor)
The chapter room is where one of the brothers killed himself back in 1983. So, it is rumored that he is the one haunting the house. That's all I know, but haven't witnessed anything else to make me truly believe...

You brought home a ghost? I'd kinda like to hear that story....

Okay.

Phi Sig had a bowl-a-thon, and afterwards, last sunday, tricia, juliana, rose, and ashley and I went to mcdonalds to hang out for awhile. While eating, Rose got a phone call from one of our alumnae, Valerie. So, Rose say's "will you guys hang out here until Val get's here?" and Ash and I both said yes.

Okay, so twenty minutes later, I'm sitting on the backend of my car, outside of McDonalds, at like, 11 pm, smoking a ciggarette with Rose and Ashley, and it's freezing cold. So, I grab my jacket and zip it up and put the hood over me. I looked like such an idiot, and Rose and Ashley started cracking up. So, Rose grabbed her camera (the kind that you can see the picture right afterwards) and took a real quick snapshot. So, we looked at the picture and there was this weird short of fog-type substance behind my right shoulder. So we were like, "It's either smoke from our ciggaretts, or the light behind me." SO, just to be sure, we snapped another picture of me. Needless to say, this one freaked the hell out of us. Whatever "it" was, had moved to the right side of me and spread out, growing to about three times the origional size. We had both put out our smokes. Not only did this weird "smoke" or "Fog" grow, but it also took a shape, a shape of a face. And, I'm totally not kidding.

So, freaked out as hell, we took a third picture.

Absolutly nothing in the picture. No fog, no face, no nothing. Simply me and that's it.

So we were totally having so much fun being scared to death (and I had an hour drive home through cornfeilds)...and showed the picture to Val when she got there and she was just as scared as we were.

So, we decided we had to name the ghost, and we named it Mac.

:)

Ashley thinks it followed her home- because that night we were talking online and she went outside to get something and the gate to her house just flew open and broke a hinge. It wasn't windy.

:)

Our Ghost Mac.
I want it to come to MY house.

Always,
Jess

Ok, I was about 15/16 and I used to be terrified of the dark....I was sleeping, sort of woke up and saw a figure ironing at the ironing board in my room. Woman about 45, really nice, pale, brown hair, she just looked over at me and smiled and kept ironing. It freaked me out so much I cried and put the blankets over my head and screamed for my mom.

My mom came in and the lady was gone. A few years later my mom told me that a lady died of cancer in our house. I betcha it was her.

Noone ever believes me, but I know it happened.

I was always close to my grandma, and when she died i was heartbroken. My grandma was really sick so for the last few years of her life she slept in the room down the hall from my grandpa, in this really big bed. Everytime I go to my grandpa's house I usually am the one who ends up sleeping in her bed, cuz my sisters or brothers don't wanna sleep in there. Well its warm when you first settle in for the nite, but then it turns ice cold, im talking freezing freezing freezing!! and my covers are always off of me and on the floor. I asked my dad if he was freezing in his room and he says he was actually too hot etc. So that is one thing that freaks me out, also there is a hall lite that turns on by itself. my dad and grandpa went out one nite and i knew they weren't gonna be back until the morning so i turned off all the lites and went to bed. I woke up, freezing and the light was on. Got out of bed looked around the house and no one was home, but the light came on?

Last thing that has me convinced my grandma is haunting me, not in a bad way, but just that she's watching over me. If i get stung by a bee I totally balloon out and i get all puffy and weird etc. So yet again gramps and dad were gone and i was outside on the upper deck of the house reading when i heard a pot crash, i ran inside and called out, no one yet there was the pot on the floor of the kitchen. I then turned around and this totally freaked me out, I saw a swarm of bees outside like right near where i was sitting! I honestly think my grandma dropped the pot to make me come inside....
so yea, my dad doesn't believe me, but i know it..

deltaphi94 02-18-2002 11:47 AM

heehee i get to tell my stories...

Ok, so if you don't believe in this, you'll think I have totally lost my mind. I didn't want to believe in it for the longest time, but too much has happened...

So....

The house I grew up in was built in 1925, and there's a small room in the basement that looks like it had a false wall at some point. I have no idea what the history of the house is, but that alone makes me curious.

My bedroom was on the second floor, and there's a hall closet just before you get to my bedroom (down a hall) to the right. When I was young, I was terrified to go upstairs unless someone was with me. I heard voices coming from the closet. Not just inaudible noises, but what sounded like a little girl -- around my age at the time -- calling my name and asking me to play. The door would open slightly. I hated that closet. If I had to get something out of it, the door closed on me. That never happened to anyone else, but every time I opened the door...
People used to tell me it was just the house settling, but I honestly don't think so.

I had a friend that I had known pretty much all of my life. When we were in high school, she stayed at my house one night, and something freaked her out. She went to turn the light in one of the rooms off, and stopped just before she got to the switch. "Did you feel that?"
Turns out, she felt the temp. drop around her, and the hairs on the back of her neck stood up.

When I was 16, a guy I had dated briefly was shot and killed. He used to sneak up behind me and grab my sides to see if I would flinch. (I'm extremely ticklish, so it always worked.) Anyway, I was in my room in the middle of the night 2 months to the day after he died. I was sitting up against a wall, and I felt something grab me from behind.
Related story... I started at a community college that Sept. My second day on campus, I was crossing the quad, and this guy walked up to me. I stopped in my tracks because he could have been the twin to my friend who had died. He walked over to me and asked if I was ok because all color had drained from my face. I spoke to him and sat down. When he knew I was ok, he turned to walk away. I looked up, and he was gone. The quad isn't all that small, and there weren't many people out. Very strange.

I have a ton of these stories, but I won't tell all. There is one more I'd like to leave you with, and this happened this month.

Background...

My husband's mother passed away shortly before we met, but he has told me a little about her. She's the type of person who ironed everything. She, from what I gather, also thought it
necessary to button all buttons.

So, here's the story. Hubby went to get ready for work, and asked me if I was trying to remind him of his mom. It seems that when he took his pants out of the closet, they were buttoned and zipped. This is something his mother always did.

On top of that, he always empties his pockets completely. He works in a factory, so it's his norm to wear the same pants at least twice before they hit the laundry. He found things in his pockets for days after that. Nothing that can't really be explained, but it's a strange coincidence.
