On the (almost!) eve of Initiation...
Hi ladies!
As some of you may know, I found Greek Chat back in Fall of 09 because I was interested in joining a new sorority (Tri Delta!) that had come onto my school's campus to form a colony. After a consultation and a week of waiting... I was extended a bid, which I accepted. I was soooo very excited, but at that time I had no idea the sort of impact that joining Tri Delta would have on me. Many of you sent me congrats/questions through pms but I got sidetracked and may not have gotten around to responding! So, I'm going to share some of what's been going on this past semester & spring with the Epsilon Lambda colony! On Bid Day, 85 girls were extended bids. Although it was overwhelming trying to learn 85 names.. we all quickly got to know each other and bonds began to form. We did many activities like deltas only bowling, movies, sisterhood events, daily lunch..whatever we could do just spend time with one another. As September rolled to a close, homecoming at TU was quickly approaching. Greek Life is a HUGE part of HC, and even though we weren't partnered up with a fraternity to participate in events, we weren't going to let that stop us! One of our sisters ran for Homecoming Queen (and did very well, I might add) and all of us as a chapter participated in some of the other events. We ended up placing third in homecoming overall, and won one of the events - Change For Change. This allowed us to donate $1400 to St Jude's Children Hospital, and we raised more than all of Greek Life combined in the previous year. Later we would conduct a clothing drive and a Chick Fil A fundraiser, which also benefited St Jude's! We also were able to celebrate our first ever Founder's Day with the Baltimore Alumna Chapter, which was truly wonderful. The remainder of the year consisted of supporting other groups on campus, continuing to learn more about Tri Delta, and just becoming closer as friends, as well as sisters. Of course, we were all very excited about upcoming initiation, but that would wait until after Winter Break. After we returned from said break, the focus shifted somewhat to helping us being able to function on our own as a chapter. Our Field Consultants are AM-A-ZING, and the thought of being a little more on our own/functioning without them was (and still is!)kind of scary. Everyone has stepped up to the plate, and even more so now that we have slated a great group of officers. Initially this was to happen following Initiation, but we got hit by the insane blizzard of 2010 and it was postponed. Fast forwarding a little, today was our informal spring recruitment bid day! We lost a few girls earlier in the semester, and I am sososo proud and excited to say that we extended bids to 17(!!) new members. With Initiation coming up on Saturday, I really feel as though the experience has come full circle. Currently, we are planning our next big philanthropy event. I am so very proud of my sisters, and I think we have done very well in beginning to make ourselves an established presence on campus. Personally, I will be a senior next year, but I am looking forward to all that I will get to do my last year of college and as an alumna in the future. I just came back from dinner/hazing presentation with all of the ladies and our new members, I felt like sharing a little..hehe. :) http://hphotos-snc1.fbcdn.net/hs230...._3522567_n.jpg Delta Love! ♡ |
Congratulations on your upcoming initiation and on your new pledge class!

Congratulations! I was wondering when the Towson group was going to get installed. It's nice to have such a strong addition to the Towson panhellenic!

Thank you both! My facebook news feed is about nothing but excitement for this weekend, haha.
AOII Angel - Yes, that snowstorm we got was insane! I felt so bad for the ladies visiting from Exec. Office in Texas, a few of them had never seen a blizzard before and I think what we had here was a little much for a first experience, haha. Also - we are so glad to be joining all of the other chapters at Towson. Our success was greatly helped by the support we have received from our Greek brothers and sisters! As we continue to expand ( So I've heard?) I know things are only going to get better from here. =) |
