Love Never Dies-Phantom Sequel

Yes he did it. It opens on London's West End pretty quick here. The CD becomes available next month.

The guy who does the Phantom, is really good. There is a video for the song "Till I Hear You Sing". Great song. Beware with the video though, it doesn't show the "download" but it downloads slow and it stops and starts. You can't "stop" it, only the choice of play. I just kept having to drag the bar back to the beginning of the song. Really annoying, but in the end I enjoyed the song.

Premise of the show (according to the site):

Ten years after the mysterious disappearance of The Phantom from the Paris Opera House, Christine Daaé accepts an offer to come to America and perform at New York’s fabulous new playground of the world – Coney Island.

Arriving in New York with her husband Raoul and their son Gustave, Christine soon discovers the identity of the anonymous impresario who has lured her from France to sing.

I'm looking forward to hearing the whole score. I loved the Phantom, hated Raoul (probably the only one), so I really hope the Phantom gets a repreive and some sort of redemption. :D

I hate the idea of a sequel to such a classic. I heard about this over a year ago, and was so disappointed, I stopped listening to my PotO CD for awhile. It seems like such a "the first one made so much $$$, let's see if we can do it again" move.

PS...there is a musical called Phantom (still based on the same story), so it messes with my head when people just call PotO "Phantom" - I don't know which one they're talking about (although it IS easy to guess in 99% of cases they are referring to the ALW one). Ok, that's my theatre geek rant for today. Carry on.

I too heard about it a while back, but figured it would never 'see the light of day'.

We shall see how it does. It would be kind of weird if/when it comes to Broadway because PotO is still on Broadway.

Like I said earlier, I just hope LND doesn't end on the same note as PotO, where the Phantom is made to be the 'evil' one. If that makes sense. I really hope that he gets some redemption (again this is coming because I love the Phantom character :D).

Hey maybe Joel Shumacher can just make it into a movie for me, since I doubt that 1) I will get to London anytime soon, 2) if/when it comes to Broadway will be quite a while from now, 3) a tourning company will be even longer.

Speaking of that, the actor who they got to play the Phantom was in the movie.
