Help Needed! Approaching Sororities with an Event Idea
Hi! I was hoping to get some advice from people who know the Greek system. I wasn't involved with Greek Life when I was a college student, but I would love to approach some sororities in my area (San Diego/LA) with hosting an event for my business. I'm an independent jewelry stylist with Stella & Dot...the jewelry is gorgeous and I know that the women would love the jewelry! Stella & Dot trunk shows are fun, casual and interactive. I essentially come to the (sorority) house, set up my jewelry collection and all of the women try on the jewelry, have drinks & snacks and socialize with one another. It would be such a great sisterhood event or even a fun mother/daughter event. But I don't know how to actually get in contact with the right people I need to talk to.
I looked up email contact info and sent out dozens of inquiries but have heard nothing. I have a feeling that I am approaching things the wrong way. What is the best way to approach a sorority to find out if they are interested in an event? Would I mail a catalog with a nice letter? Who am I supposed to talk to? Any advice is appreciated! You can look at the jewelry I'm selling at the home website (stelladot.com) so that you can see for yourself it's a really beautiful, stylish product! I don't want to post my personal e-boutique site because I don't want to get flagged for advertising since that's not why I am at this forum. I truly want advice and help on how to do this. It would help my business out so much. Thank you so much for your input! |
If you've already contacted them and they haven't responded, they're likely not interested.
A lot of people despise these home sales parties. |
I wouldn't try anymore. If you continue pursuing this, you'll probably just be disappointed. I wouldn't want the pressure to buy jewelry going on in my house.

Most likely there are women in the sororities who are already consultants or related to a consultant for this, Mary Kay, PartyLite etc - and if that's the case, in home parties are most likely banned because saying yes to one would mean saying yes to them all.
You're better off going to the student center and leaving a bunch of booklets there rather than targeting sororities only. |
