SGRho Leadership on Monique Show 2/19

Sorors,

I'm hearing that our international leadership (including International Grand Basileus Loveless) will be on the Monique Show this evening (BET) representing the sorority; however, I'm not sure of the what or why. I think the show airs at 11:00 EST.

LOL! I didn't see your post.

So I don't watch Monique (or anything on BET) but "EVERYONE" is there. Sheryl Underwood was speaking on the couch as the over all rep./ a friend of Monique. A lot of representatives from all Divine 9s are there in the audience advocating Greek unity and the purposes behind BGLO's & issues they support like Haiti education, census, voter registration, etc.

ETA: I'm going to keep updating as the show goes... each of them is having the highest ranking rep. present speak and say their distinguished events.
Here is a live play by play as they are talking...
President of Alpha
Representive of AKA (did not get her title)
Executive Director/COO(??) of Kappa
National Secretary of Delta is there
Grand Basileus (sp?) of Omega Psi Phi
Sheryl Underwood, Zeta's Pres.
Grand Poleris(sp??) of Iota Phi Theta
Int'l Pres. of Phi Beta Sigma
Int'l Grand Basileus (sp?) of Sigma Gamma Rho

I apologize for my spelling, I'm not familiar with these titles so I'm just typing as I go.
Monique keeps making the Zeta sign even though Sheryl explained to her (in a nice way) that it's for members!

I don't watch that network either. ick. And a second ick goes to Monique. Never hating on a sister but if you're going to wear a short dress in a photograph, crop it. Unshaved legs are not attractive to the general public.

BabyPiNK_FL 02-20-2010 02:01 AM

I don't mind it, a lot of black women don't shave their legs. I wish people would accept it as a part of a cultural thing. My mom forbade me to do it when I was in high school and she didn't start herself until more recently influenced by the "outside world". I like that Monique continues in her tradition of "herselfness" whether it was something she was raised with or what have you.

Oh- I went back and read again, I see your point about cropping, but that's what her legs look like so, what's the point at the end of the day?! lol!

Thanks for the recap and Basileus is spelled correctly. Zeta also calls their president Grand Basileus.

Perhaps not to the general public. But, many of us who remember that unshaved legs were once considered sexy (for women who aren't white) aren't bothered by her unshaved legs. Keep doing your thing, Monique.

1. The purple suit bothers me although I know why it was worn. :p
2. Head nod to the younger bruthas at the end.
3. I'm glad Delta only sent our National Secretary on the show.

The blue and gold suit is KILLING ME! I wish I could get that in Pink and White. I'd wear it all day every day! Everyone looks so cute. I also like how the AKA rep wore green and then Monique ended up in pink, strange but cute coincidence, not that I think it means anything though.

Props to her blue and gold suit having the SGRho letters on the collar.

Don't start Monique honorary AKA rumors. :)

I thought Monique was a Delta?

I personally don't care but speaking as a media photographer, it does matter.

I have never heard of Monique being in any greek letter organization and I'm sure she would have said something on the show if she was and definitely wouldn't have been trying to mimic Sheryl Underwood by putting up the Zeta handsign...smh.

Here's the replay:

OK, I saw this thread on the Delta page saying Happy Birthday to their Soror Monique. I guess I got it confused...
