interested in starting a new kappa kappa gamma chapter!
Hey Ladies!
I go to a small private college in michigan that currently does not have a greek system, but a group of students are looking to start one. I'm interested in starting a Kappa Kappa Gamma. I was wondering if you ladies had any advice on how to go about this, and who I should get in touch with at the Kappa Kappa Gamma headquarters! :) Best wishes, Holly |
oh boy.

Another one....SRSLY?!?!
|
It didn't seem completley unrealistic to me, I know it would be a lot of work but I'm up for a challenge. I get to hear my friends who attend bigger colleges talk about how much they love their sororities and the whole greek life... and it's something I'd like to experience
|
Just because a group of students want Greek Life doesn't mean that the school does. That should be your first step.
|
The school's campus life office said they are open to new student organizations and to give them more information once we had it.

This. And you probably shouldn't say "hopefully your future sister". Even though you said "hopefully", it's a bit off putting... |
Well I apologize if I stepped on anyones toes, I was just trying to be friendly. I mentioned earlier, our campus life office said that they are open to new student organizations and they would just like to be kept informed of my findings on starting a greek system. I'm just a bit lost as to what my next step should be, as this is all new to me

Thank you very much for your help, I apologize again if I made anyone cross, I didn't mean to impose.

Here we go again!
|
I really didn't expect to receive such a negative response with my inquiry :(
|
I don't think people are being negative, they simply are letting you know who to contact.
Kappa has info about starting a new chapter here: http://www.kappakappagamma.org/Conte..._a_Chapter.htm However, be advised that your school is probably going to need to be open for expansion before they will consider it. You need to speak with the Director of Student Life (or person in charge of student orgs) prior to contacting Kappa. |
Holly
There has already been some good information posted as to the proper procedure for expansion via the NPC and Kappa Kappa Gamma. Expansion is a lengthy process that has to go through many channels before it is even considered at any given campus. While you may be interested in starting a chapter, the fraternity may feel it isn't able to support a new chapter in your location at this time. |
^^^Especially at a school without an established Greek system.
