Oh yay! A commuter's story. I was a commuter when I went through recruitment. I posted my retro story last year in honor of the 10 year anniversary of my bid day. http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...d.php?t=103035

Yesterday was Convocation, I did not show up thinking I didn't want to go through rush due to how busy I will be. Then when I didn't show up, my Rho Delta texted me and telling me that I should come tomorrow for open house.

Overview of the week :)

Open house includes visiting all the sororities and cutting the houses down to 5

Philanthropy day: cutting the houses down to 4

Themes: cutting the houses down to 3

Final Teas: The final sororities show a more serious side

Bids Day!: Running to your final house if you choose to participate :)

I'm super excited about getting to see all the houses and meeting all the sororities tonight :)

I think that if you don't follow through, you may have regrets. I know it's nerve-wracking. Just make the commitment to follow through until the end, whatever that may be. If you are offered a bid, you do not have to take it. But see what happens. Recruitment is only a few days of craziness. Do you know any other PNMs whose dorm room you might stay in one night, so that you have a little less "busy" time? It might help, and it might be fun!

Good luck!

What is with the smilies? TEITY?

Okay, I can't figure it out. I've heard of Pi Chi, Gamma Chi, Rho Chi, Rho Gamma...but what does "Rho Delta" stand for?

That's what I was guessing, but I'm confused, too.

However, tonight was the first round of rush. It was interesting with all the clapping and singing.

I will post about Friday's later, I am too tired to write anything. I did enjoy it as well.

Right, I got that. I was curious as to what it stands for since I had never heard Rho Delta. For instance, Pi Chi = Panhellenic Counselor, Rho Chi = Recruitment Counselor, Rho Gamma = Recruitment Guide, Gamma Chi = Guidance Counselor...etc.

Good luck today!

Round 1

Bashful
Doc
Dopey
Grumpy
Happy
Sleepy
Sneezy

Bashful: Conversation was a little awkward at first, but then got better. The girls seemed really nice and fun. I liked how active they were on campus.

Doc: This one is known for having a good chapter, but I just didn't feel comfortable. The conversation felt forced.

Dopey: I loved the girls that I talked too in here! They seemed so fun. They did not have the best rumors around campus, but they were really nice and our conversation just hit off after we started talking about our favorite TV shows. I'd love to get an invite back from them! They also had a cute slide show!

Grumpy: I also enjoyed this group of girls as well. It didn't feel like I had to force conversation at all. A girl from one of my classes was there, and that made it a little better. They were super laid back. I could see my self there.

Happy: The girls were friendly and we had a good conversation. However, towards the end they started talking to each other. I left with an okay vibe, just not the greatest. Wasn't too worried if I got an invite from them or not.

Sleepy: I loved loved loved them! They seemed to be very genuine. I loved the reason the girl joined the sorority. They had a cute slide show!
I hope I get an invite back from them!

Sneezy: They were okay. I wouldn't be too heart broken if I didn't get an invite back from them. One girl was in the same major, just different concentration. That helped conversation a lot.

At the end of the night we had to drop 2, I knew one. The other one was a tie (Happy and Sneezy).

1. Sleepy
1. Grumpy
1. Dopey
1. Bashful
1. Sneezy

2. Doc
2. Happy

It was a really hard decision to pick two!

good luck

I thought twice about doing it. I know I wouldn't have been scared away if someone said that to me, but obviously my feelings are not the same as everyones.

My apologies! :o
