Letter to IHQ
Nina, Jeanine,Tonya and others who know about the situation I was in,
Hi. I thought I would let you all know what I decided to do regarding the situation I was in when I was an undergraduate. (the KKK, "Jew girl" thing) (that post got deleted) I decided to write IHQ to let them know about the way I was spoken to and treated. There won't be any thing benificial to come out of it for me, since it was a long time ago already. What I do want to come out of this is: 1.) I want to make IHQ aware that these things happen so they don't occur again 2.) chapters do not treat sisters in this way. That is basicly the gist of my letter. The letter is two single spaced pages. The letter starts out, and ends nice and I was even kind about it all. In the middle I described in detail several of the problems I incurred. At the end of the letter, I let them know if there are any questions or comments to feel free to contact me. I don't know if they will or not. I'll keep yall posted! Lisa |
Good for you, Lisa. IHQ should be made aware of situations like yours. We are all sisters and should treat each other as such, regardless of the religion we practice. I hope that IHQ takes your letter to heart.

Lisa,
I am so happy that you've decided to notify IHQ about this. I was so horrified to read about your experience, and while it's still hard to believe that they did this to you, IHQ should know about it. IHQ is usually great with replying back, especially with serious issues. Please let us know when they do write back! Loyally, Sandy ps. Lisa, did you delete that post in question? I'm asking because I know I didn't do it! |

Sandy,
Sandy, I think when GC was down a couple of months ago, thats when my note got deleted. I don't think you would have deleted it. I'll keep you posted when IHQ writes back. Lisa

I am glad that you wrote them. It is important that they know the situation so that they can learn how to deal with such issues in the past. It is important for them to respond even with a letter to you, But most importantly would be to make sure that they are checking in on that Chapter and others where these types of issues can occur so that they are not repeated again.
(Perhaps a CC to someone in the Chapter/Alumni Chapter in the area may be doable, if with your judgement it does not reek havoc!) I admire your courage and the way that you have overcome this and have forgiven others. Please let us all know what the outcome is. |
Jeannine,
I should send my home chapter a copy of this letter as well. That was a good idea, and I'm glad you suggested it. It' been 10 years or so since this happened. (ouch!!!!) I've looked up some names in the Alumnae Dir. to see if anyone in my years are still in Gainesville. It is fairly safe to say that most everyone has moved. Since there is a new batch of people there I am not uncomfortable with mailing a letter like this to them. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks again, Lisa |
