(Kind of) Randomly Emailing a House

So I went through formal recruitment in the fall and ended up withdrawing...now I'm on my university's informal list and I'm hoping to join a house sometime this year!

Just wondering...I just saw a house that I LOVED during formal's facebook page called "xxx recruitment page campaign" with contact info like "xxx@recruitment.xxx.com" so it seems like they are pretty open to doing recruitment this year.

Would it be totally creepy to email them w/something like "Hi I'm on the informal recruitment list and very interested in informaling at your house if you guys are doing it this quarter!" ?

I don't want to be desperate or anything I seriously LOVED that house though...what would be appropriate?

This is the second thread you've started about emailing/sending notes to houses for informal recruitment. The only advice I can give you would be to do what you want, and don't feel the need to ask all of us about every situation involving contact with the chapters. You know what's going on more so than we do. If you feel that this house might not have your information, or that they might not know that you're interested, shoot them a short email. Especially if you think you'll regret it, otherwise.

As has already been said, don't sound desperate. Don't send them too many messages. Just sound interested, and thank them for any opportunities they give you to meet with them.

And good luck!

Thanks a lot, this will be my last question lol I just don't want to make a bad move with something as trivial as an email. But at the same time I wasn't sure if it would help. I'll take your advice and shoot them a brief email and leave it at that. :)

I agree with AST, just one quick email if you feel like you might regret it if you dont send one. However, I would word it a little better than what you wrote in your post..I dont think informaling is a word :p Good luck to you!

Personal contact with a member would be way preferable to a cold email. Surely some of these girls are in your classes or involved in the same activities.

Agree with the last two posts. Also, don't believe everything you see on Facebook. While it may look like they are open to informal rush, creating such a page also may simply be a requirement they are filling with their HQ or the university. Kind of like a workplace who posts a job opening to fill EEOC guidelines when they know full well who they're going to hire.
