Any "I Love Lucy" fans?

SFGate.com has a really cool article and photo essay on the life and career of Vivian Vance, who played Ethel Mertz and later Viv Bagley on The Lucy Show. Who knew she was a knockout back in the day?

Wow - that's a gorgeous photo! I read once that part of her contract for "I Love Lucy" was that she had to stay 10 pounds heavier than Lucille Ball.

And yes, I do like most of the I Love Lucy shows. My favorite is definitely the Vitameatavegamin episode!

I love this show! (and not just cause my dog's name is Lucy. Hehe!) There are so many classic moments. I saw the pilot recently, and it was funny from the start!

i am a fan! the shows never get old.

(i think my favorite episode is when lucy and her ladies club put on the musical-"i am the queen of the gypsies, gyp-gyp-gyp-gyp-gyp gypsies")

I did a report on Lucille Ball once because she was my favorite actress at the time. The first time I saw it (when I was like 6), I thought it was a brand new show and TV companies had come up with this new style of TV where there's no color.....I had no clue black and white was how shows started out. My mom still tells that story.

Oh I can recite that my heart....with all the different changes she made lol.

Vitameatavegamin contains vitamins, meat, "Megetables", and "Vinerals." :D

Plus the part where she dances w/ Ricky @ the end of the episode. If you look closely, when they show the area where the "vitameatavegamin" is located, there is a space between the two walls and you can see the Ricardo's living room set! lol.

I <3333333333333333333333 I love Lucy!!

I can't believe they did that to "Ethel"...lol reminds me of the rumor I heard from the Destiny's Child days.... that the girls all had to tan so Beyonce would be lighter skinned and therefore stand out:rolleyes: I always dismiss stuff like that as rumor.

Hey Soror!!!

I still love Lucy and I'm prone to quote from the show all the time.

"Do you pop out at parties? Are you unpoopular?"

I read on IMDb in Vivian Vance's bio that it was not true. I think it was a joke between her and Lucy, but, of course, the rumor mills ran with it!

Madelyn Pugh, one of the writers is/was (not sure if she is still alive) a Kappa.

Interesting. I read it in the book most recommended by Luci Arnez.

"Hark! Do I hear a footfall? Is that you, Don Juan?"

Another favorite episode is when Lucy somehow got Ricky fired from the Tropicana, so she, Ethel, and Fred buy out all the reservations for the new entertainer's debut, put on a revolving door of costumes, and repeatedly appear at the Tropicana, only to leave when they "discover" that Ricky is no longer the entertainment. Love that swish-n-sway of Fred's rear end!!
