This broke my heart when I received notification on FB from TCU yesterday. However, at that time they had not yet named her.

Prayers and comfort to her family, friends, Gamma Phi Beta sisters and the entire TCU community. TCU is small enough that everyone knows everyone.

She was a beautiful and vibrant young lady. May she rest in peace.

Heart-breaking. Prayers for her family and sisters.

May light perpetual shine upon her.

Please accept my sincere sympathy. She seems to have been a lovely woman.

Forgive my curiosity, but does anyone know where Amanda Bebout was from? That name is well known near me - even a Bebout Road and Bebout Farms.

I haven't seen her hometown printed anywhere yet. In fact, several outlets have yet to name her still.

There is a GC poster (tinydancer maybe?) that is an advisor to the TCU chapter of Gamma Phi. No doubt she is super busy right now just being there for the chapter, but perhaps she can provide a definitive answer to your question once things settle down some.

In the meantime, if I hear then I will pass that along to you.

** oh, and in a random sidebar to this story... looking through the pics on the FB prayer group for her, it looks like she is related to Kherington from So You Think You Can Dance.

ETA: Looks like she was from Orange County, CA. Article from the Orange County Register.

The news is just so sad. My thoughts and prayers are with my TCU sisters as well as Amanda's family and loved ones.

i heard it on the radio yesterday when running errands with one of my sisters.
I have a friend in that chapter and i can't imagine the heartbreak and pain they are going through. My prayers are with TCU, the TCU chapter of Gamma Phi Beta, as well as all Gamma Phi sisters.

I believe she was from Mission Viejo CA - she swam with the Nadadores there.

I am in disbelief about why the police reports seem to be indicating no criminal or foul play....

Wait until the autopsy - a former student of mine died at the age of 23 - he was found in his apartment with no apparent cause of death. It turned out to be an undiagnosed heart infection.

I hope her family hears soon - not knowing is awful.

This is so sad. It's so tragic when anyone dies young. My heart goes out to her family, friends, and Gamma Phi Beta. Please accept the condolences of this Triad member.

My sincere condolences. Tears and prayers for her family and the sisters of Gamma Phi Beta.

Why the disbelief?

While rare, there are instances of young, apparantly healthy people dying from all sorts of issues... heart ailments, meningitis, ruptured aneurysm, etc.

And while I am not suggesting that this is the case here, there are plenty of college aged individuals who overdose (drugs and/or alcohol) or commit suicide.

Yes, the initial reports about the duct tape are strange, but every single account now indicates that that was a false report made by an overeager news outlet. Everyone who was on the scene (from the police, to the TCU administrator, etc) has said over and over again that there was no duct tape found on her body.

In addition, there are no reports by anyone that the house appeared to have been broken into, or that anyone else had been there.

It is tragic. Very tragic. But I do think there are plenty of alternatives as to the cause of her death than simply foul play.
