Candlepass Songs
Hey ladies!
I was just wondering what songs your chapters use for candlepass. Ours here at CNU sign "Eppo", but I was wondering if it was different from chapter to chapter. If this is a subject that is too sensitive to talk about, I'll ask about getting it removed. =] AOE :D |

I dont know how much i can really say, but i mean, we all know what basically happens at candlepass so i dont see why we cant talk about it as long as were not super-specific on little details. Last night my chapter of ADPi had a candlepass ceremony. It was the first one ive been through where someone got engaged. The first two rounds we always sing songs specific to ADPi, but i found out at the ceremony last night that when the candle begins the third round, meaning engagement, we all break into cheers and start singing "Were going to the chapel and were gonna get married..." etc etc. Most people know this song, its not any type of secret song that only ADPi's know, so i dont see the problem in mentioning it...I thought it was really cute, actually. I was wondering about this too, actually. What song do you sing? How does your ceremony work, as in what is the first round, second round, etc? |
"Eppo"?
Hi pomplemousse12,
I'm from our youngest chapter, Iota Mu (unless Kentucky got installed already), and have already graduated from Georgia Tech at that, so I haven't had the chance to participate in a candle-passing ceremony. I wanted to ask you what this "Eppo" song is; I've never heard [of] it. Could you give some background or the lyrics? Thanks! AOE, GT Alpha Phi |
It's the song we do at our candlepass and this year we're going to sing it softly for the beginning of preference. It goes like this:
"Oh eppo ee ti ti ay oh, eppo ee ti ti ay Oh, eppo ee ti ti Eppo ee tookie tookie Eppo ee tookie tookie ay. Oh, my love is Alpha Phi Oh, my love is Alpha Phi Oh, my love's the ivy, My love's forget-me-nots, My love is the silver and bordeaux." I don't know the background of it, but it is one of my favorites =] It can get repetitive at candlepasses and such when you're singing it over and over, but it's pretty. |
We sang Lovely Girl when I got engaged.

We sing 'College Girl' :)
