This is a not a Greek Life related question. Get off Greek Chat and talk to her.

Wait...

No trains potentially going off-track? No QFPing? No virtual popcorn???

All I see is real-world advice. *shakes head*

My girlfriend is in a sorority at the college I was going to transfer too. When I told her that I was going to rush when I went she basically made it clear that she thought that since I was older that me rushing now in my college career would be a bad mistake for myself and our relationship. I find this very difficult to accept from her because she herself is in a sorority.

Am I right or wrong in thinking that it would not put a strain on our relationship? She goes out and parties at mixers, pledge kegs, socials and other aspects involved with the greek life. Maybe she would not want me to party but she needs to remind herself that it is her that is currently doing what she told and wanted me to promise not to do.

I'm just wanting some intake from current greek members and see what you all think about this. Oh and I did not transfer to that college because transferring did not workout in the eyes of my parents and they would not pay for it. But nevertheless, it still bothers me to think that she would stop me from doing something that she knows I truly have wanted to do for a very long time. Should I put my foot down and say that maybe you should rethink how many parties you go to then???

Wow. No need to be a dick just because you are new. Maybe you should get yourself tested.

Maybe he means the OP should get himself tested to see if he has a pair of balls. It doesn't sound like it.

I would really wonder though, if she is active in her sorority and likes it, why she doesn't want him to become part of the Greek system. Most people in that situation would be tripping over themselves to get their SO involved. Either she is being shady, or else the "good" fraternities at her campus don't accept upperclassmen and she doesn't want to have a boyfriend in a lower tier fraternity.

The dude went to a different college than his girlfriend. Getting tested is good advice.
