Rush Application
What does one look like, as in what kind of questions it asks? Because I will be a transfer student this Fall to UT Knoxville, I'm worried because my gpa starts over once I transfer, that they will look at only my high school gpa and not the gpa from the community college I am attending for this year. So I was wondering if it asks if I'm a transfer student, so that way they could take that into consideration during rush week if they are not that impressed with my high school gpa?

I would suggest contacting the greek life office at UT Knoxville.
Don't take my word on this, but I'm pretty sure that I've heard (via this forum and sisters who went to UT Knoxville) that recruitment there is pretty competitive. I don't want to deter you, but be aware of this as you will be transferring as a sophomore or a junior. Anyone from UT Knoxville on here? |
why would tennessee not consider your community college gpa? are none of your community college credits going to transfer?
|
yes they will, but since I will be coming in with more than 30 (31 to be exact), my gpa ''starts over'' according to a counselor at UT. Very strange because none of my courses should transfer as electives. It just worries me because I did not graduate high school with the gpa I wanted (3.01) and my ACT score was ok (23), but I should finish this second semester of college with like at least a 3.2 gpa I hope. So I would much rather them look at my college gpa than high school.

If I were you, I'd talk to the Greek Life office and to your rho chi (or whatever they are called at UT Knoxville). Ask that both your high school GPA and your community college GPA be sent to each chapter.
|
I would see no reason why your community college grades would not be used for recruitment. For AOII, at least, college grades are more useful than high school because it gives a better picture of your ability to manage your time than grades that are over a year old. Just because UT won't necessarily include your CC grades doesn't mean you can't use them for recruitment. Call the Greek Life office in the Spring. They should be able to answer all your questions if you can't find answers online.

Thank you soooo much ladies!!!! I really appreciate it!

I don't get why your GPA would "start over", but that's something for you to sort out with the Univ. As for Recruitment, you can always send or have your Rec writers send a copy of your community college transcript to be sure they see what you are capable of.
