Alpha Xi Delta Alumna dies
 

If you've ever lived in the Pittsburgh area, you've heard of KDKA reporter, Yvonne Zanos. She did consumer spots, "Our Town" spots, Project Bundle Up (clothes for those who need them) spots, all of the more interesting facets of the television news.

Yvonne died of ovarian cancer this morning. KDKA has been running a short documentary of her life, and she is shown in her Alpha Xi Delta sweatshirt, among other facets of her life. I had the chance to talk to her at a few of the events she attended, and she was truly a lovely lady - even remarking about an ADPi ring I wore once & saying that she was an AXiD. We are all a bit richer for having enjoyed her work; today, we're a bit poorer for knowing that we lost her.

I had no idea she was sick at all. Still completely shocked over this.

I didn't know she was that sick. The last time I saw her, she looked as if she wasn't feeling well, but she was still her perky self. I'm in shock, too!

It's funny that you say that. I'm a geriatric counselor, and I can't tell you how many times someone will be "on the threashold", asking for the date. After a certain date (an anniversary, graduation, etc), it's as if they feel okay to let go.

'Burgh people, don't freak out - evidently Yvonne taped a lot of consumer bits prior to her death. She'll be with us in spirit for quite a while!
