Informal Recruitment!!!!

Hey guys so I'm considering going through informal recruitment with a few different sororities at my school. I'm an upperclassman and I went through formal recruitment in the fall. I ended up dropping. Please give me any advice on what I should do. Should I even go through with it at all? Thanks!

Any similar experiences?

not knowing your campus(and i'm not asking to), i will have to give general information. being a junior may or may not be a factor, but your gpa probably will be. do you know the minimum gpa requirement to join the chapters that you are interested in?

I don't know the minimum gpas. Consider it's informal recruitment, would the rules be more lax?

As previously stated, no one here knows that school you attend. Therefore, I would suggest visiting your school's PHA website to figure out if there are minimum gpa requirements in order to answer your own question(s) about your gpa.

Good luck with recruitment!

membership regulations/requirements don't change. if abc chapter requires a minimum 3.0 gpa to join, that will hold true whether it is formal recruitment or informal. maybe you can find out the minimum gpa requirements of each chapter from the greek life office on your campus. if you know girls in the chapters that will be participating in informal recruitment, you might ask them your gpa question.

the main differences between formal and informal recruitment are typically the format of the parties and the amount of new members each chapter is allowed to take. informal recruitment is a lot less.....well, formal. it is more relaxed. chapters are usually just trying to get their membership numbers up to campus total, which is the total amount of members the chapter can have. example-if total at your university is 60 and abc chapter has 56 members, they may hold informal recruitment and try to get 4 members so that they will be at campus total. during informal, they cannot go over this number- in our hypothetical example, 60.

if def chapter has 61 members, they may not participate in informal recruitment.

Alright, thanks!

Every chapter has it's own minimum GPA requirement in order to receive a bid. I'd check with your school's Greek Life Office for those. Being a legacy doesn't makes someone an exception to these requirements, as they are usually imposed by the national organization and must be followed.
