A Win for I Phi T
On Oct. 4th 2001 the Dynamic Delta Lambda Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. held a forum called "Partying While Black" - Racial Profiling Symposium 2. The forum adressed the issues of racial profiling at predominantly black attended parties. Questions such as " Why are black parties watched more closely than white parties ?", "Why do Black parties have to have police using force to disperse crowds?" and other questions dealing with local problems. From start to finish the forum had around 150- 200 people, with a diverse crowd ranging from administrators to 1rst year students. To make a long story short, the impact of the forum has reached as far north as NY and as far west as Texas, i am sure the news has spread even farther by now and sparked a new sense of awareness at the University. Just felt Like i would share that with the Brotherhood...OW OW !!!!!

Good job frat! our chapter did the same program a month ago and the turnout was wack. like 15 people max. It seams that some programs that deal with real issues turn some people off . Keep up the good work.

I think it also has to do with timing, and knowing your campus...it just so happens we the students at UVA were dealing with problems with the local police shutting down "predominantly black attended parties". Thanks for the feedback frat. OW OW
