It has some appealing characters, wild flights of imagination and startling visuals. There are some rousing action scenes, and enough 3-D-wrought, IMAX-ready fantasy to juice generations of video games.

But neither is it — as only Cameron has been predicting — a historic breakthrough in cinema storytelling.

DS, if you're going to keep posting long excerpts of copyrighted articles (which I don't think is what John has in mind when he says it's okay to include a summary or an excerpt, but otherwise not to post copyrighted material), how about at least start off by giving the source (publication, headline and author), so it's clear that someone else and not you wrote what you posted. ;)
