The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty

I'm watching it right now and I'M NOT ASHAMED!!! :D

I love Michael Jackson and I love the Jackson 5!

They clean up well.

They all whisper. I blame Joe "das bullshit, Lado, I ain't neva touch dem kids" Jackson.

What's the name of the brother who looks like Muhammed Ali?

In order of cuteness when they were younger: Jermaine, Michael, and Marlon. Marlon's cute now. Jermaine's a California raisin now.

This is touching so far. Will it be enough to sustain itself as a show? We shall see.

Jackie's daughter is gorgeous. She's definitely a Jackson with her facial features and half-whisper.

I watched and I love the show so far - was a huge fan of MJ growing up. That is Tito who looks like Muhammed Ali. I always thought he looked like someone else but I couldn't put my finger on it, so thanks. And I always thought MJ was the cutest as a kid with his big baby doll eyes but Jermaine was a cutie too and he still has the cutest smile. I love them all!

Is anyone else bothered that they made the "s" in Jackson a "5"? Michael is dead, and they are still capitalizing on his fame.

I don't think this way at all. In their minds (and in the minds of fans), he is still with them and will always be a part of their group/the 5 brothers. When someone dies, you don't just stop being with them and including them.

Also we don't know this family personally to make such an accusation that they are capitalizing on their loved one's death. That's a big charge; one that we don't have the insight or proof to make.

I watched it with my significant other who couldn't put the faces with the names.

Who is he?
Where's Jermaine?
What's wrong with his hair?
Who is that?
Who's is talking now?
Are they still famous? Like, really?

It drove me crazy. LOL.

He cosigned that one looks like Ali but I couldn't tell him whether it's Tito or Jackie. Now I know it's Tito. Thanks. :)

I didn't say they're capitalizing on his death, but on his fame. Maybe they aren't, I'm just jaded, but it looks really crass to me. I don't think Michael would have agreed to this if he were still alive.

I noticed the 5 in a commercial (I didn't watch the show), but it doesn't bother me. I don't really see it as something insensitive, like them capitalizing on MJ's fame. I guess I just see it as a more contemporary way to refer to the Jackson 5. Yes, it's defunct, but still very much remembered and celebrated.

They will forever be the Jackson 5. They are a brand that will live on after everyone has passed away.

As for capitalizing off of MJ's death, MJ and Jermaine were the stars of the J5. But, all of the J5 were instrumental in making it what it is. As Jermaine or whomever said last night, they can't capitalize off of/take advantage of something that THEY had a hand in creating in the first place. MJ didn't do it by himself. They aren't playing off of what he did during his solo career. Just the stuff that has to do with the J5.

The people who know about MJ know about the J5. The people who don't know about the J5 aren't real MJ fans. :) So, MJ's fame is a direct result of the J5 which propelled him into solo stardom.

LOL @ MJ wouldn't have agreed to this. Maybe and maybe not. So? LOL. Maybe they won't talk about him that much outside of the first episodes.

My husband made me watch with him, and I'm glad he did. I think we're getting to know more about this family now than we ever did before, and I love learning about the brothers from the source.

I like them all, but Marlon & Tito strike me as the realest brothers. Jermaine bothered me because he cried and let out his feelings about not being part of the discussions to leave Motown decades ago, but he single-handedly decides there should be a tribute concert without consulting any family members. That truly bothered me.

LOL @ Jermaine being a California Raisin, especially with terrible hair

I agree with everyone who doesn't see the "Jack5ons" as capitalizing on MJ at all. I honestly think MJ would've been ok with it considering the group would celebrate 40 years.

I hope we never have to see their father on the show.

I have a semi-crush on Marlon. what a beautiful smile. I have love for the brothers but will the show sustain me? I'm on the fence.

Isn't doing the show in the first place capitalizing on his fame?
