Black Leaders?

I read this question on BlackPlanet about who is going to step up to be the next Black "leader". Does the Black community really need a "leader(s)"? Who is our "leader" now? Is this leader "elected" or assume the position?

i think that our (american-plural-general) communities...need better...more proactive overall leadership...clearly defined leaders...with clearly defined goals...for "us"...blacks...specifically...i feel that we are in dire need of more cohesive efforts to bring our communities to a place of continual advancement...i look around me...and it is sad...that people concern themselves with themselves only...and for the most part could care less about anyone outside of their "circle" of influence...even those that claim they are about bettering those outside of their "circle" of influence are falling dramatically short of where they should be politically, socially, economically...etc...i don't think we need any one leader to take us anywhere...but we all need to take the initiative to be the "local" leader...and if you see something you think needs fixing...call it out...and not be affraid to...that is the only way true progress...within the black community...and within the american community as a whole...will ever take place...
