Lifetime sisterhood

Last night we performed the 50th anniversary ceremony for one of our longtime Baltimore Alumnae Chapter members. That in and of itself was not unusual for a 77 year old chapter. The member in question had been hard to get ahold of this fall. She had been out of town to Hawaii visiting her daughter and new granddaughter for two months, then last month when she had planned to attend our meeting, she had a freak foot injury and was unable to attend. We really started to think we weren't going to be able to celebrate her 50th anniversary!

Finally, she was able to attend our Holiday meeting last night so we surprised her with the ceremony. To OUR surprise, her Big Sis was present at our meeting as well and pinned her! The Big Sis hadn't actually attended a meeting in over a year due to poor health so this was fate. It was such an unbelievably sweet moment! They have stayed friends all these years. I, of course, took a picture and sent it to AOII HQ...how often does a Big Sis get to pin her Lil Sis at her 50th Anniversary?

I'm totally crashing, but only to say I LOVE stories like this. I would have been bawling to see her big pinning her. That's so beautiful!

You can crash anytime, but it was really a special moment, and it really made me miss both my big and my lil sisters!
