Wearing Letters

I have a question. Is there a "rule" concerning wearing of letters. A friend of mine is the daughter of a SigEp and SigEp Sweetheart. She is now a freshman at a university. Is she allowed to wear the letters of SigEp? She is dating my son who is a SigEp.

Depend on the local chapter.

The privilege of wearing letters is not "inherited" in any group - unless they have a cute shirt that says "XYZ Baby" and those are for, well, babies.

If your son does give her that privilege - and it would come through him, not her parents - he needs to clear it with his chapter first and as moe.ron said, who and why can wear letters (outside of members) depends on the chapter.

Thanks for the quick answer. I really appreciate it.

Generally the "rules" about wearing letters are traditional at each chapter. What is considered OK at Minnesota might be frowned on at Georgia Tech, for instance. The best way for her to find out the "rules" is to ask the guy she is dating.
