Unique Chairs/Positions
Looking at some chapter's websites I have come across really unique chairs, such as Sunshine chairs, Awards chairs, Lipjam chairs, etc.
My question for everyone on GreekChat is what is a unique chair or position your chapter has/had, or what's an idea you heard of that you really liked? |
What does a "sunshine chair" do? Weather reports at chapter meetings?

Ahhh, I see - the hand-holding chair.

Um we just started a Points System Chair under my position. The VP of Mem D before me is an Excel god and created a whole points system for rewards in Excel. Since there are only a few of our Brothers who can even hold a candle to his skills, we made a chair to take over it (and find a way to run with it and make it awesome). I guess that's the most 'unique/odd' thing we have...

In the Sons of Norway, the Sunshine Chair reports on people's health and stuff. We have a lot of elderly members, so we often hear about hip replacements and the like.
My chapter of Kappa has a Kore Group Koordinator. Kore Groups are like families but they change every once in a while. That chair was responsible for coming up with competitions between the groups and keeping track of the points. It's a morale booster thing. It's also not an official position that all chapters have. |
Sustainability Chairman (basically reduce, reuse, recycle chairman!)

I was Sunshine Chair! In my chapter, it was basically another sort-of Unity Chair. I recognized sister's accomplishments, gave awards, and recognized birthdays. Each month, I made a CD mix for everyone who had a birthday that month, e.g., October Birthday Mix along with some candy.
It was pretty much a stepping stone for other positions I eventually held-- it was a nice way to start getting involved. Plus, I got to sit in on the weekly Program Development meetings and help out with other programming projects. |

I'm Fraternity Heritage Chair for my chapter. I didn't think my position was unique or anything, but when people in other GLO's ask me what officer I am and I tell them that, I usually get a "WTF is that?" look. I tell them it's basically a little bit of Historian and New Member Educator...but for all members, not just NMs. |
