GLO annual traditions

This question's kind of out there, but bear with me. I know there are topics about the origins of a lot of individual fraternity and sorority stuff. However, I havent seen a thread about national annual events. If anyone has the origin of say, Delta Gamma's Anchorsplash, Sigma Chi's Derby Days, or FIJI's Islander, please share...

Lambda Chi Alpha has the North American Food Drive that yearly brings in TONS of food for Charitys.

While that is the only event by International, Chapters do many other chaity events.

To name a few, Kappa Delta has:

Shamrock; Annual fundrasiers all chapters and alumnae associations hold and our efforts go towards Prevention Child Abuse America

National Women's Friendship Day; Holiday created to say Thanks to those women friends that mean so much!

Alpha Phi Omega is famous for "Ugly Man on Campus", and most chapters nationwide participate in Relay for Life and Make a Difference day.

pirate00, the Alpha Phi Omega chapter at my school called UMOC "Ugliest Manifestation on Campus" - didn't have to be a person, and believe me, my campus had more than enough ugly buildings, statues, etc. to go around :)

AFAIK, AEPhi doesn't have any national traditions.

I dont recall APO doing an "Ugly Man on Campus" thing at ECU... when do you all normally doing it? I saw recently that ZTA and some other sorority (social) are teaming up to do something like that.:p

Sigma Chi's Derby Days was started sometime in the 1940s...(was it 46?)
I KNEW this a few weeks ago, but I can't remember at what college it started now! Oh, well...it was fun, anyhow. And we (ZTA) won their house-decorating contest, and we came in second in the number of CMN balloons purchased.

Some of the things our school has (tell me if any of you have these on your campus!) are AOII in the Face, Eye Spy an ADII, *Kidnap the President (ZTA), **Paint Your Date (ZTA), PIKE Halloween Bash (it's also a fundraiser), and of course SigChi Derby Days.

*We kidnap the presidents of all the sororities and fraternities on campus, bring them to our chapter room, and hold them for ransom. The ransom is food items and supplies for the needy, and a certain number has to be brought in for each pres. to be released. :)

**Last year it was with SigEp, and people LITERALLY painted their dates! LOL...not sure the point of this, though.
