Photoshop people

I am trying to create an image (a logo) and I keep getting caught up in the Text thingy.

The image has three components:

  • A pre-made logo
  • A horizontal bar of one color
  • text of one color
The text should be "smooth" because if it's not, it will look pixelated.

When I add the horizontal bar, everything is fine.

When I add the text, one of two things happens: either the text types in the color I want but it's not "smooth" -- OR -- the text won't type in the color I want, but "smooth" is selected.

Help.

Can you type it in the "wrong" color first, then go back and change it to the "right" one after?

That's my temporary fix, but it still doesn't seem to be "smooth" after I do that.

What font are you using and what color are you trying to make it into?

Futura MT BT

r- 0
g- 51
b- 171

(blue)

Hmm. I've been playing around in photoshop and don't seem to have any problems keeping the font in "smooth" (regardless of what color it is).

Not sure why it's giving you issues. Sorry.

Screw you, buddy.

What kind of file is the pre-made logo you're using? Rasterized text problems can usually be solved by doing the logo itself in Illustrator and saving as a .JPG. You'll be able to open it in Photoshop after that, if you need to, but the text and bar you did in Illustrator will be part of the image

THANK! YOU!!!!!!! I believe this is exactly what the problem is -- the original logo is a GIF.

How is the logo going to be used? Is it just going to be used on the web or will it be used in other formats? If it were going to be used in a variety of media (web, print, etc...) I'd honestly do the whole thing in Illustrator, even if that means redrawing the pre-made logo. I have to do that all the time for my work, and it's a PITA, but always ends up looking so much better in the end.

Thanks ISUKappa -- it's just for the web.

I learned that all I had to do was go to Image, then Mode, then change it to RGB. :)
