2012

Is anyone going to see this movie? :)

I'm debating it. The thing is that end of the world movies tend to be crap.

lol
When I saw the previews I was kinda disappointed. I just want to see it to see if they're gonna show the the things that are based on fact.

Such as?

I think it is going to be a stunningly beautiful movie in terms of computer graphics, but a stunningly stupid movie in terms of facts - like "The Day After Tomorrow." My husband, a chemistry and physics major, literally laughed out loud at the absurdity of the "science" in that blooper reel.

Will I pay to see it - probably, for the graphics (and perhaps the comedy).

I was thinking the exact same thing, "The Day After tomorrow". The thing that gets me though is that a lot of people buy the pseudoscience in movies like that.

I just want to see the Earth, Sun and Moon line up. (they're supposed to) I don't believe 12/21/2012 will be the end of time as we know it. I mean, only God knows that. I think the only reason why the Mayan calender ended on that day was because...well...it just ended. I don't think it has anything to do with the world ending. I honestly think they should have waited to show the movie on 12/21/2012. So, if we're still in the theater watching the movie, then it's a hoax.:p

Here's a pretty cool history channel documentary about it. It's kinda silly and I don't agree with it, but it's still pretty cool to watch, even though it's just man wanting to be God.

I love the History Channel and this was the same documentary I watched.

I'm going to see this even though it's against my better judgement! :D

Do you mean all of the planets are going to be lined up?

Because I'm pretty sure the sun, Earth and moon line up pretty much every day :p

ETA: EXACT lineups being eclipses.

Actually, they don't line up always. I meant lining up with the center of the galaxy along with the other planets.:)

Ha, ok. And obviously the planets have lined up before, but there has never been an EXACT allignment, nor will there ever be in all probability.

They have, but they're all "supposedly" lining up with the center of the Milky Way. According to the Mayans, that's going to cause a disaster. We shall see.

I was trying to score some free tixs, so I wouldn't feel bad dropping $20+ for this movie, but I doubt it. There are better movies out there, tho'

I'll probably wait until it comes out on video. The only reason I'd see it at all is for John Cusack. ;)

That's the reason I'm going is to see it. The sun and planets can be in a chorus line in the film for all I care.
