New York Yankees!!!!!

Godzilla went crazy baby.

World Series Champion The New York Yankees!!!!

It was totally worth the lack of sleep to stay up late and watch the game.

I've said it before on here, but I've been a Yankees fan my whole life; I grew up rooting for Don Mattingly, Dave Winfield and Willie Randolph. My dad is a huge Yankees fan, and I grew up watching the games with him.

I understand that, as a Yankees fan, I've been incredibly lucky to see my team win 5 World Series in my lifetime. Heck, even before that all happened, they had some good years (2nd place in 1986, a good season in 87, and playoffs in 95). But, it's still awesome to see them win.

YAY YANKEES! I love being in Boston when NY teams win! :D

It was a good series this year.

Yeah it was an amazing series and Godzilla did phenomenal. And now there are only two teams to win two rings this decade.

Yankees fans are the result of bad parenting.

Pretty sure the decade started in 2001. However, you're the early favorites to tie it up next year, according to Vegas, so keep the hat hanging.

Pettitte's game last night, on 3 days' rest at age 75, is really the under-reported story . . . sure, Matsui made himself a pile of Seattle's money, but it was a much stronger pitching performance than I anticipated. As much as I think Girardi is an absolute fool (PROTIP: he's real, real bad), the rotation setup was just huge, and that alone might have been the decider. Philly can't hit lefties. Great strategic move, good series overall - yet another reason why I can't wait for Cashman's memoirs, so we can find out who made that decision.

On a completely different note, it's nice that an entire generation of Yankees fans just starting middle school will actually remember one of those 27 championships. Everyone wins!

OH WAHH 9 years, I don't even wanna hear about that!

It took the White Sox 88 years to win one! And let's not even talk about that other team on the north side...

The decade started in 2000, so this would be our second win in 10 years. And I agree with you as well with Pettittes pitching game. I was shocked he did as well as he did with the short rest. And is Matsui going to Seattle?

One starts counting with 1, not 0. The decade (and the 21st Century and the Third Millinium) started on January 1, 2001.

Yes, I'm anal retentive about this. ;)

And yes, I'm pretty much an anybody-but-the-Yankees kind of guy, so I can't believe I'm posting in this thread. :p

Darned anal retentiveness.
