Black Sorority Rules

I am interested in joining a sorority and i know few classmates that are in sororities but I am afraid to ask them how to get into one. I heard that you weren't supposed to tell people, especially not those already in a sorority, which one you would like to be in. I don't see any flyers around campus or anything about interest meetings regarding them, so how do I show them that I am interested?

not sure which one you're interested in but talk to those you know that are in that sorority of interest. ask them about their organization and what their upcoming events are. i would then go to that particular sorority's website and read what they look for in a candidate. secondly while online, see if that chapter has a website and see what it's about. each of the four has a page on this site, go there for advice. not by asking tons of questions, but by reading.
start doing your research. we've done it, so can you.
good luck:D

Stop worrying so much about how to show a sorority how interested you are, and start worrying about how to make them interested in you. No sorority - NPHC, NPC, or otherwise - gives a hoot how interested you are in their org if you aren't someone they want as a member. So worry about that.

I would suggest learning how to type properly first.

I hope that "08" in your name is not in reference to a particular sorority. No one should be presumptuous and assume that because you pursue membership and meet the requirements, that you will be selected for membership. I suggest that you research all the D9 sororities, visit their international websites, attend their programs and events on campus, and when you narrow it down to the one you wish to pursue, attend their events/programs and try to befriend them. Then you will feel comfortable enough to ask them when they are having an interest meeting.

First step:

-Research...um for one, try reading the sorority's (or sororities') websites and learning about their mission, history, programs, and members. You may even want to talk to women you know that are currently in these organizations.

DSTRen13 and rhoyaltempest also gave some good, very basic tips. I'd recommend following them...

I completely agree. Once you have yourself together (good grades, community service, active on campus, etc.) and have done your research, show your interest or they may become interested in you by attending their programs and events, as many as you are able to attend so they can get familiar with seeing your face, try to get to know some of them, and attend an interest meeting.

This is some of the BEST advice I read on this site in a while. *applause*

This advice also applies extremely well to those who would want to be alumnae initiated in an NPC group.
