New Friends are Greek and I am looking to join them.

I never in my life though I would be thinking about joining a fraternity as I have always bad experiences with the Greeks back home. They showed me that all the negative things that "GDIs" say about them is 100% true. It wasn't until this year where I met someone back home who was a frat dad. He was really cool and set me straight on the Greeks. I moved away to go to another college to do something different as I had lived in my hometown my entire life.

I arrived here in a pretty big city and I love it here. I met some friends at a great bar near the Univeristy here. Those friends introduced me to some Greeks here and I have been hanging out with them 1-2 times a week for about a month. The thing that just blew me away is that people that I have hardly know have treated me better than friends I have know for years. No one fights or bitches, everyone BYOBs. The way I have been treated by these few brothers from the fraternity has made me want to be part of it.

I am not looking to even join right this minute but maybe next term or fall when I have school under control. So my question is how do I go about this without being rude. Should I just show up at rush? Will they offer it to me if I just don't say anything? Maybe they consider me a casual acquaintance or a friend but not fraternity material. I see how if I went to rush and failed to get a bid it might make things awkward. I rather just not do it at all if I risk messing up relations with them.

Is this fraternity NIC, NPHC, or something else?
