Junior PNM Chances at Recruitment

As a junior participating for the first time in any sort of recruitment on my campus I am not very knowledgeable about the process. A friend of mine in a top tier house informed me the other day that her sorority automatically cuts juniors and seniors no matter how amazing they are. I know a girl who rushed as a Senior last year and was initiated into a sorority on my campus so i know that i do have some chance. I am wondering however if there is a way for me to find out which other sororities on my campus will automatically cut me for my grade level? I want to know so that I do not rank ones that I have no chance at above others that I do.

Your friend may have told you, but I'm willing to bet that most sorority women are not going to just come out and tell girls that their chapter cuts juniors and seniors automatically.

It's likely not something that's an official rule, but more of a chapter culture or campus culture kind of thing.

It's not something I'd outright ask a girl about either, so as not to appear creepy.

In terms of finding out:

One could assume that a larger chapter at a more competitive school is more likely to cut upperclassmen, but I've seen it happen the other way around where a smaller chapter will cut upperclassmen in favor of freshmen who won't graduate as quickly and will help to build up the chapter.

One could theoretically look at the composition of the chapter's pledge classes and see which ones are clearly taking all freshmen and others with sophs and juniors in them.

But even then, the PNM pool changes every year, so a chapter that is more open to juniors one year, may not be the next--and vice versa.

Just prepare yourself well, go through recruitment, and see what happens.

Ranking only means something when you are invited to more chapters than the max for the next round. Chances are, as a junior, you won't have more than the max.
