500 Days of Summer
Anybody else see it yet? Did you leave the theatre feeling good or not?
|
I really enjoyed it. The awesome thing was that my boyfriend did as well. The writer did a good job at eliciting a wide range of emotions in just one film. As far as my emotions at the end, I cannot recall (I saw it much earlier in the summer when it first came out).
Although I do remember that the name of the new girl at the end had the whole theater cracking up! What did you think? |
I saw it with two of my friends. One of them and I thought it ended up being a really good movie. But, the other friend we went with said she couldn't get over "how much of a bitch Summer was" to feel the same about it as we did.

The boy (who should have been part of Siskel & Ebert) insisted that we see the movie - I think he was worried that it was a chick flick and it looked better to have said chick with him.
I liked it up until the scene before the new girl's name is mentioned. Somehow, it brought back memories of a non-romantic relationship I had with a wonderful guy for whom I didn't have "that feeling" and I got very depressed (he ended up committing suicide, but not because of me). We discussed it afterwards, and concluded that everyone has a "Summer" in their life, and it's a matter of learning to deal with the change of emotions. I think if there was one more scene - a buffer, if you will, between the bombshell and the last scene (loved her name!), I would have had a chance to feel really good about it. As it is, I'd recommend it to people I thought could handle it. |
I loved the movie, although I almost had a panic attack at the end trying to hold in my tears. I've had a "Summer" for 9 years and it really brought back all those feelings of being hurt and feeling like you've wasted your time. It affected me, so I knew it was a great movie.
