Informal Recruitment?
Hi everyone!
I just found out that one of the sororities at my university is doing Informal Recruitment (so I guess COB?) for this semester. I would really like to go to the event and I would love to be a sister in this sorority, but I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate given my situation. Here's some background info... I'm a senior... while I do have an extra year left to finish up my double-major and minor (I don't graduate until Spring 2011), I know this is a big disadvantage. But I do know that some upper-class students are given bids at my university (and in this particular sorority). I did not turn down any bids from any Panhellenic sororites, and I didn't withdraw from recruitment. I'm not really sure what went wrong (I thought I really clicked and made connections with the girls in a couple of the sororities), but on the third day (Sisterhood day), I wasn't invited back to any sororities. The sorority (XYZ) that is having the Informal Recruitment is actually the one that I really felt a connection with and ranked #1 both times (in fact I have been looking forward to seeing if they were going to do Spring Recruitment because I wanted another shot), but I'm still not sure if it would be appropriate to attend and try Informal Recruitment so soon after unsuccessfully going through Formal Recruitment. What to do you guys think? |
go for it. make sure that they understand that you won't be graduating until spring 2011. good luck.

I agree that you should go for it. I don't like living with "what ifs" and you will always wonder if you don't try.
As long as you are at peace with the possibility of it not working out and being disappointed, you really have nothing to lose and everything to gain. :) |
Being a senior and someone that has been dropped by that chapter before, I would just prepared for the possibility that you won't get a bid.
As long as you understand that you're at a disadvantage and it may not work out the way you want--go for it. |
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your input everyone! I know that the likelihood is very slim given the circumstances, but I think the possible outcome is worth the risk :)
The event is tomorrow night, so we'll see how it goes! |
Good Luck.
