Ladies, I need your help...

I am a Program Coordinator for a Science Enrichment program at a middle school, and I have given the teens in the prog the task of researching African American Inventors and Inventions. Little did I know that there is little to no info on blacks who contributed in science in this way b/c we were oftentimes denied the opportunity to get our inventions patented, sooooo guess who stole our ideas and got credit for them

If any of you know of good, resourceful journals, websites, or books we can use PLEASE LET ME KNOW...post here or e mail me ChaoticRed@greekchat.com......

Thanks:D

My mother was a middle school science teacher for about six years. She did a similar program with her kids too. I learned a lot about black inventors just from watching her prepare her lessons.

I think this is a really good idea for your students. More blacks need to teach their children about our roles in history.

I can't think of the resources that she used but, I will ask my mother where she got all of the info and get back to you. Good luck on your project!

Thanx ClassyLady:)

The kids are really excited to know that we as Blacks were sooo creative, I am only 22 and had no idea we created things like the waffle iron and iron furnaces. It is truly a learning experience for all of us...any info is greatly appreciated.

we had a thread regarding little known black history facts. I remember linking to mcdonalds via Tom Joyner. There were downloads for teachers, so check that thread.

I can't remember the name, though. Something about black history.

My mother taught MS science, too. She had a few posters of various AA scientists. I don't know what she did with them.
